GWT came out in 2006 and has already released most of the versions with a lot of major updates. This technology is ripe and is used by most of the major web apps and has a future.GWT’s adoption in Europe is much higher in comparison to N. America. There are no good technical reasons for GWT to perish. Frankly, there are no better alternatives when you are working on massive enterprise scale applications. If server side java die, GWT will naturally die; that is not going to happen any time soon. If an equal or better new competitive technology sprouts from somewhere else, GWT users will plan to move to that new technology. Otherwise, I believe that there will be continuous passive investment from Vadin, Google, etc to keep GWT alive. If I am not wrong, google-inbox and eclipse-orion are written in gwt.

you will be learning a technology that does not have a very bright future but one that will provide a stable job.
